Pumpkins and Cider and Donuts…Oh My!

When my kids were young, one of our favorite times of the year was fall. We loved going to local nurseries near our town so the boys could run through the mazes then finish up with cider donuts or maybe apple fritters and bring home a large gallon of apple cider. Jeannie, the KRID office manager, also used to have fun searching for apple orchards and hayrides for her kids when they lived in Atlanta. It was a bit of a hike but worth the drive because there were hiking trails, hayrides, homemade goods and of course, a pumpkin patch to pick out a prized pumpkin to carve.

If you’re ever looking for something to do on a crisp fall weekend, here are a few stops we recommend if you live in the Boston area or in Atlanta.

New England Area Pumpkin and Apple Farms

Mahoney’s – they have locations throughout the surrounding areas of Boston where you can find pumpkins, fun activities at some locations, and cider donuts!

Wilson’s Farms – in Lexington, you can see the donuts being made right before your eyes! Then pick up some pumpkins and apples. Here’s a link to the latest events going on: Events

Drew Farm, Westford, MA – apple picking and s’mores
